Medical Transcription Certification

If you want to become a medical transcriptionist,so you need to enroll in a Medical Transcription School to get the right training courses,so you can obtain the Medical Transcription Certification,Although it is not necessary to get medical transcription certification,that is a voluntary certification,but,If you have obtained a medical transcription certificate,The employers will give you more opportunities than those without certifications,and you can get high paying and rewarding.because the certification can prove your ability and experience.

In many medical transcription programs,you must have a test for the medical transcription certification,but The test provided by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) which were called American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT) before is more strict and difficult,so we suggest you do not participate the medical transcription certification test after you have work for more than 2 years in the medical transcription field.

Types of Certification:

1)Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT)

This is a Entry-level examination for MTs who just graduated from the MT programs.the medical transcriptionists who have no experience,if you pass the examination,you will get the RMT certification.

2)Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT)

This is a voluntary examination for medical transcriptionists who must have two years of experience in the MT work.it is more difficult,it is not a necessary choice,according to your time and financial.if you have passed the exam,you will be a expert in medical transcription field.

Two parts of examination :

The first part is written,Multiple-choice questions,there are 120 questions,you must complete all the questions in 3 hours,the cost is $150.

The second part is transcription,Test your ability of recording,you must record the file for the 15 minutes doctors’ dictation in two 2 hours accurately.The cost is $150,but if you are not in US you must pay $250 for the examination.
